Born From Ashes, in my own words

The coverage of the exhibition carries a number of new statements from me, and I see it as a second, in-depth portrait of my work.

Born From Ashes is about loss, memory and rebirth. I don’t want to dwell on the darkness of loss. I would rather look at the good that the people I lost left behind, and at how it can be turned into creation.

I also talk about my life in Barcelona, with my partner, my friends, my mentor and my everyday activities, as an environment that gives me support and creative balance. I sum up this period of my life in three words:

  3. 9 – 11 December 2025

“Encuentro”, my solo exhibition in Patras

Palissandros art space, Ermou 8 and Agiou Andreou, Patras

My most recent exhibition took place from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 December 2025 in Patras: a solo jewellery exhibition called “Encuentro”, at the art space Palissandros.

It presents my new creations, and especially the collection Born From Ashes. By then I had already spent about four years living and creating in Barcelona.

Collection: Born From Ashes · Athens

On 11 and 12 October 2025, I took part in “Show and Shop” at Domatio in Athens, where I presented a newer collection, Born From Ashes.

This collection marks quite a different artistic phase from Optics and Scale.

    Joining a Barcelona artists’ group

In March 2025, I joined the group Artistes i Dissenyadors d’Allada Vermell in Barcelona.

    “A Jewel Made in Greece”

    Zappeion Megaron, Athens

On 23 and 24 February 2024, I took part in the exhibition “A Jewel Made in Greece” at the Zappeion Megaron in Athens.

For my path this was an interesting shift: I was now showing in an event focused specifically on contemporary jewellery.

  9. 5 April – 31 May 2023

    “+Senses” at the Gounaropoulos Museum

Collection: Optics and Scale · created in 2021 · 925 silver

From 5 April to 31 May 2023, I took part in the group exhibition “+αισθήσεις” (“+Senses”) at the Gounaropoulos Museum. Part of my collection Optics and Scale was shown there. The pieces were created in 2021 and are made of 925 silver, and the jewellery was also inspired by Bruno Taut.

This exhibition matters to me because the work I first presented as my thesis at the School of Fine Arts moved into the setting of a museum group show.

The turning year: Optics and Scale
  12. 5 July 2022

    Featured on Archisearch

    Collection: Optics and Scale

A few days after presenting my thesis, on 5 July 2022, Archisearch published a feature on the collection. Its headline, translated, reads: “Visual artist Eirini Karympali creates the jewellery collection ‘Optics and Scale’, drawing inspiration from architectural works.”

In it I explain that the art forms that express me are sculpture, painting, performance, architecture and goldsmithing.

My basic idea is that an architectural building can, depending on the optics and the scale, be seen as a sculptural form, and in the end be turned into jewellery.

    Where sculpture meets goldsmithing

    Collection: Optics and Scale

2022 was a real turning point for me. I completed my studies in sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts. I had already graduated in 2017 from the Mokume School of Silversmithing and Goldsmithing, as a technician in handmade jewellery and jewellery design.

These two paths, sculpture and goldsmithing, came together in the work that defined this period: my collection Optics and Scale, which I presented at the School of Fine Arts diploma exhibition at Piraeus 256.

  15. Summer 2021

    EcoFest 2021

    Work: “Satellite”, a painting

In the summer of 2021 I took part in EcoFest 2021, where I showed a painting called “Satellite”.

By then my work already moved across different media: sculpture, then painting, and then art jewellery.

  17. December 2020

    “The Show Must Go On”

    Six bronze sculptures

In December 2020 I took part in the visual arts exhibition “The Show Must Go On”, held for the World Day Against HIV.

Here I appear more as a sculptor than as a maker of jewellery: I presented six bronze sculptures.

    Work: “Intervention in the Crisis”

My earliest participation dates from April 2020, when I took part in a Panhellenic exhibition at MegArt Gallery with my work “Intervention in the Crisis”.

I didn’t simply take part: I won first prize with this piece.

The first prize certificate from the MegArt Gallery Panhellenic Painting Competition, awarded for “Intervention in the Crisis”
