Hollyhock House - Los Angeles

Hollyhock House - Los Angeles

The Hollyhock House is one of the most important works of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

It was designed between 1919 and 1921 for Aline Barnsdall as a residence and cultural center in Los Angeles.

The house is known for its unique style, inspired by ancient Mayan architecture and nature.

Its name comes from the hollyhock flower, which was the client’s favorite and is used as a decorative motif throughout the building.

The design includes strong geometric forms, open spaces, and a connection between the interior and the surrounding gardens.

One special feature is the central courtyard, which brings light and air into the house.

In 2019, Hollyhock House was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today, it is open to the public and is considered a key example of early modern architecture in the United States.
